Halifax, Nova Scotia
We were absolutely exhausted when we arrived in Canada. Bryan drove most of the way and I felt bad because I kept dozing off. We decided it would be best to pull over and take a much needed nap. We slept for a little over an hour and I woke up and made us lunch. I took over the wheel and drove us into Halifax. We researched a spot on a lake nearby and grabbed it. It was a small park with locals pulled over to fish and or swim.. Bryan ended up taking a dip in the lake, it was too cold for me. We had to stay up and grab a few photos of the sunset. It was so crazy that at 4am we watched the sunrise in Maine and around 7:45 we watched the sunset in Halifax Nova Scotia. I retreated in the van and Bryan made a friend with a local and chatted with him for quite sometime. The next day we found a Costco. I was like a kid in a candy store. It was fun to see how many different items they have up here. Lots of homemade salads, pasta, fish and such. We grabbed some food items and headed to downtown Halifax. We walked up to Citadel Hill Fort George, but didn’t want to pay to get in, so we just walked the grounds. We then headed to the waterfront and walked around and grabbed a beer and enjoyed the beautiful weather. There was some live music across the bay, but it started at 9pm and we didn’t think we could stay up that late :). We headed to Desert Grand about a 40 minute and found a cool spot to dry camp for the night. We met another boon docker was French/Canadian and chatted with him for a bit. The next day we went into town for some needed supplies. We definitely were low on water, so grab that and filled up the van and our big water container. We both were desperate for a shower and Bryan was ready to give it another try to hook up the hot water in the van. Yay, it worked and we loved taking an outside shower with our pop up privacy tent. We were all happy campers again and decided that the place was pretty awesome and spent one more night. Off to Cape Breton tomorrow,.
