Sierra Vista

We drove south from Scottsdale to Sierra Vista which is at 4,600 feet where Nancy and Rhonda hosted us for 3 great nights.  They have a beautiful property with views of their mountain playground and a new pool to cool off in after the days activities.  We arrived Friday just in time for the weekly happy hour with Rhonda’s sister Pamela and her husband David.  It was Cinco de Mayo so we enjoyed some margaritas and tamale pie.

The following day we went on a hike up a river in one of the many places to recreate very close by to them.  This route was chosen due to a little later start and wanting a little of the shade the tress provided instead of being exposed to the sun.  Cheech was an asshole on Friday night and severely affected our sleep so we were needing to chill before heading to see some live music at the fair.  I put Cheech on his harness and made him hang out on the lounge chairs so he wouldn’t sleep all day.  At the fair, there were 2 tribute bands, Bad Company and Tom Petty. Pamela and David joined us again and they were the Bad Company fans while we were the Tom Petty fans.  Luckily I had brought my Tom Petty concert shirt from 2014 Eugene show.  As a group we decided Bad Company was a grade C and Tom Petty was a B.  We were beat from lack of sleep so headed home before Tom Petty band finished.  Sleep was much better Saturday night.

Sunday, Paula washed the van and I tackled the windshield which always needs cleaning.  We then headed off to an awesome little town called Bisbee which was having a hippie festival with live music.  The music venue was an awesome stage built next to a coffee shop with trees providing shade. The people watching was awesome.  One of the hippies had a didgeridoo and Paula was like, hey play that thing.  He gave it a big blow as the music was playing and it fit right in.  After chatting for a minute we found out he was from Oregon also. The town was super cute with an outdoor art walk and lots of tasty treats and restaurants.  After returning from Bisbee, we enjoyed some pool time, music, and good times.

Nancy was one of the few people I shared my plans with around 2 years ago so it was special to see it all come together and see their new life they are forging.  We were sad to leave, but we both had places to go.
